Feb. 1, 2012. Within 7 weeks, Ella-Marie would come to say "Hello World." But a week later it was the next full moon and she certainly didn't want to miss it! The result is obvious: after a very exciting delivery we had a small but very brave 1.8 kg and 41 cm fighting baby in our arms.
For 3 years and 3 months Ella-Marie bravely continued in life. As an incubator baby, evolution did go a little slower, but everything went step by step as it should. Until that one day in May, where her first epileptic seizure was a fact. 7 years later and about 8000 seizures later, it was decided that we had to undergo brain surgery. Yep, you read it right. With peaks of 8 seizures per night and 4 per day, we are definitely approaching an average of 3 seizures per day.
Because a lot of people care about Ella-Marie, this blog was started.
Ella-Marie is a beautiful young lady. Despite her medical background, she manages to get out of bed every day with a smile. A big cuddly lady, she manages to charm everyone and is loved by all. Tiktok, swimming and dancing are her physical outlet. Snuggling with mom and dad, the grandparents or neighbor Simonne are her chill moments.
In several blog articles you will get an insight about Ella-Marie's life with her epilepsy. The purpose of this site is for those who want to be able to follow along and keep you up to date on the big brain surgery.
